Xpel Certified PPF Installer
As an Xpel Certified PPF installer based in Hampshire, people often ask us how we gained our accreditation and what this means for our clients. So, today, we thought we’d answer those questions. Read on for all the details.
Becoming an Xpel Certified PPF installer:
We began working out of our Hampshire detailing studio in 2015. When we first started installing PPF, we initially worked with Llumar.
However, we recognised the opportunities that an association with Xpel (a globally recognised leader in PPF) would bring. So, we decided to switch in November 2018 and Matt and I completed our Xpel certification course.
We had to attend a 4-day course at the Xpel UK headquarters to demonstrate our competency and learn about working with the Xpel materials (there are subtle but essential nuances between different makes and types of film).
A selection of vehicle panels in the training room are picked because they have particularly challenging aspects. You don’t get to choose these; the instructors assign them! The final assessment involves solo installs to a very high standard on at least two pieces.
Staying up to date:
While there is no requirement for ongoing formal training to keep certification. We recognise that as Xpel Certified PPF installers, we must stay up to date with the brand’s products, materials and best practices.
Matt and I have attended further ‘advanced’ training sessions at Xpel headquarters. We also take advantage of the extensive knowledge their head trainer imparts when visiting us in Hampshire for the day.
Most importantly, as part of the Xpel family, there’s always someone we can chat with or ask questions if we need to.
We have attended the annual Xpel Dealer Conference in San Antonio, Texas. It’s a great event, there is lots of product information and advanced training sessions. There are also opportunities to speak directly with the senior teams to raise questions or address concerns we might have.
At the end of the day, customers are the best judges of an Xpel certified PPF installer. So if Xpel were to receive complaints about someone working under their umbrella, they would most certainly investigate and address the issue.
Benefits of Xpel Certification:
Being part of the Certified Installer network gives our clients and potential customers reassurance that we are skilled and competent in our work. If an installer doesn’t maintain their standards, they are removed from the network. So, it’s not a case of just paying your money for a certificate and then getting sloppy.
Xpel doesn’t sell its material or allow the use of its fantastic pattern database outside the Certified Installer network. So by using the network, you can be assured you’re getting the genuine article.
Should Xpel film be installed by someone not part of the Certified Installer network, the client would not get the generous film warranty that Xpel offer. This is important because Xpel, not the installer, underwrites it. This means that future claims can be addressed by Xpel via anyone within the network if identified as a valid claim.
